The Health Minister, Ampareen Lyngdoh, provided an update on the situation, stating that seven tests were administered, and two of them yielded positive results for the disease just yesterday.
She stated “We are able to contain the cases and whoever has contacted dengue has been given the correct treatment as required we do not anticipate the cases will grow.” The recent heavy rains and flooding may have contributed to the emergence of these cases, but the Health Department does not expect the number of infections to rise significantly.
Lyngdoh emphasized that the department has issued alerts to all districts, instructing them to adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). It has been stressed that community involvement, as well as the collaboration of local councils (dorbars) and medical block offices, is essential for prompt action when a dengue case is identified.
Furthermore, she urged citizens not to succumb to panic but instead take prudent measures. Individuals experiencing prolonged fever are encouraged to visit their nearest testing center to receive the appropriate treatment.
