Hailing from Matalagre village in Okkapara, Marak currently plays for local club Chandmari FC in Shillong. He joined CFC in 2021 and has shown immense potential, prompting Hyderabad FC to recruit him to their youth ranks.
The talented midfielder won the Best Player award in the U14 category at the Symon Soccer Tournament in 2022. Earlier this year, he was also selected to represent the Meghalaya Football Association’s junior team at a tournament in Odisha.
Marak is a Class 10 student at Hawakhana Higher Secondary School in Tura. With this deal, he now gets the opportunity to train under the guidance of one of India’s top football clubs.
Manager of Hyderabad FC Nancy A. Sangma said, “I have never seen any Garo guys playing ISL, so he has hope that one day these young players will be the state’s pride.”
The young player will relocate to Hyderabad as soon as he receives the call up. Marak’s selection represents a major milestone for the budding footballer as well as a testament to the abundant talent in Meghalaya waiting to be tapped at the national level.
