Tata Harrier and Safari Facelifts Unveiled Prior to Launch with Booking Now Available
After introducing the revamped Nexon and Nexon EV in September, Tata Motors is continuing its stride in the market by unveiling the Harrier facelift and Safari facelift. These refreshed models are gearing up for their market debut in the upcoming weeks. The original Harrier, which made its debut in early 2019, has now crossed the four-year mark, prompting Tata to implement significant updates to both the Harrier and its larger counterpart, the Safari. This move aims to strengthen their position in the highly competitive SUV market.

In this mid-cycle update, both SUVs have undergone comprehensive transformations, receiving not only a fresh aesthetic appeal both inside and out but also an enhanced set of features. Prospective buyers can already secure their orders for the Harrier facelift and Safari facelift, with a booking fee of Rs 25,000. The exact pricing details are anticipated to be revealed later this month.
A glance at the front end of the Harrier facelift unmistakably reveals a strong design influence borrowed from the Harrier EV concept, which was prominently displayed at the Auto Expo 2023. While retaining the split headlight setup from the original SUV, notable changes have been introduced. The LED daytime running lights are now connected by a slender light bar, and there is a contemporary interpretation of the mesh-type grille.

The LED projector headlights, arranged in a vertical stack, now reside within more compact clusters. They are linked by a black sash-like design element that seamlessly integrates into the newly revamped front bumper. This refreshed bumper also showcases a redesigned skid plate and air intake grille.
The Safari, while incorporating most of these updates, showcases a distinct grille finish, along with a revised front bumper and skid plate. Customers opting for the Harrier and Safari facelifts will have the flexibility to choose from a range of wheel sizes, spanning from 17 to 19 inches, depending on their preferred variant.
Both SUVs also sport reimagined LED taillights, now interconnected by a stylish light bar. In terms of exterior color choices, each model offers a selection of seven options. The Harrier lineup shines with the vibrant ‘Sunlit Yellow’ as a standout color. Additionally, enthusiasts can expect both SUVs to be available in a sleek ‘Dark’ edition.
For trim levels, both models will share the first three options: Smart, Pure, and Adventure. Only the top-tier variants will differ in nomenclature, with the Harrier boasting the ‘Fearless’ tag and the Safari featuring the ‘Accomplished’ designation.
Tata has introduced several interior upgrades to rejuvenate the ambiance and user experience within the Harrier and Safari facelift models. Notable changes include a fresh four-spoke steering wheel featuring an illuminated Tata emblem, a new 10.2-inch fully digital driver’s display, and a Land Rover-inspired gear lever (available in the automatic version).
Furthermore, capacitive touch controls have been integrated into the climate control system for a modern touch. The centerpiece of the interior is the standalone 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which bears a striking resemblance to the one found in the recently revamped Nexon EV.
The Harrier and Safari facelift models come equipped with a range of enhanced features. These include the addition of a seventh airbag, specifically a knee airbag, to bolster safety measures. Inside the cabin, dual-zone automatic climate control ensures optimal comfort, while front seats boast power adjustment and ventilation for added convenience.
The vehicles also offer advanced technological amenities such as a 360-degree camera system, front parking sensors, a high-powered 45W USB-C charger, a wireless charging pad, and an air purifier. A voice-activated panoramic sunroof complements the cabin’s mood lighting, creating a pleasant atmosphere. Music enthusiasts will appreciate the 10-speaker JBL sound system, while wireless connectivity options like Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, along with Alexa integration, cater to modern connectivity needs.
Moreover, these models feature a gesture-controlled tailgate opening function and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) on the top-tier ‘Fearless’ and ‘Accomplished’ variants, respectively, enhancing convenience and safety for drivers and passengers.
Currently, the Harrier and Safari facelift models retain the same 2.0-litre Kryotec diesel engine, delivering a robust 168 bhp and 350 Nm of torque. Both SUVs offer transmission choices of a six-speed manual and a six-speed torque converter automatic, complete with steering-mounted paddle shifters. Drivers can select from various driving modes, including Eco, City, and Sport, while terrain modes, now accessible via a newly designed ‘jewelled’ rotary knob on the center console, encompass Normal, Rough, and Wet modes.
As part of their midlife update, both the Harrier and Safari are poised to ascend further up the price spectrum. The previous iteration of the Harrier was available at a price range of Rs 15.20 lakh to Rs 24.27 lakh. Anticipating the changes, we can expect the Harrier facelift to be priced between Rs 16 lakh and Rs 25 lakh. Likewise, the Safari facelift is also projected to command higher prices, falling within the range of Rs 17 lakh to Rs 26 lakh (all prices are ex-showroom).
