As of Monday, officials disclosed that three teams from the forest department were positioned in Singasandra near Electronic City to apprehend the animal. Roughly 30 forest department members equipped with tranquilizer guns have been deployed in and around Singasandra.
Earlier, the Parappana Agrahara police had confirmed leopard sightings, a report by the Times of India stated. The forest department’s search and monitoring operations have been primarily concentrated in AECS Layout, Singasandra, and Kudlu Gate areas, according to the same report.
Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife) and Chief Wildlife Warden of Karnataka, Subhash K Malkhede, informed PTI that multiple cages have been strategically installed in the vicinity to swiftly trap the wild animal.
Contrary to a viral video that claimed the leopard was sighted near Whitefield on Friday, Chief Conservator of Forests (CCF) S S Lingaraja clarified that the video was actually recorded in Singasandra, adjacent to the Bannerghatta National Park, and not in Whitefield.
Initially seen within the premises of an apartment, the leopard subsequently ventured onto the road, where it was spotted again. Officials highlighted Singasandra’s proximity to the Bannerghatta National Park as a reason for frequent wildlife incursions into the urban environment.
